• Southwest's Six-Man 'Player of the Year' leads Nebraska All-Stars (mccookgazette.com) — A recent six-man football all-star game at Chadron State College saw Nebraska dominate Wyoming 46–6, extending Nebraska’s lead in the series. Southwest High’s Houston Billeter led the Cornhusker squad with two touchdown passes and five two-point kicks, while several teammates from small-town programs contributed key plays on both sides of the ball.
   

• 129 Huskers receive stipends for summer research projects (unl.edu) — A Chadron student is among 129 Huskers receiving summer research stipends from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, supporting projects across many majors. Participants will work 20 hours a week with faculty mentors and share their findings at an August 5 campus symposium in Lincoln, highlighting statewide academic talent, including from the Panhandle.
