• Forest Service honors Chadron State College for South Fork Fire response efforts (knopnews2.com) — Chadron residents can take pride as Chadron State College is formally honored by the Forest Service for sheltering evacuees and hosting fire crews during the massive South Fork Fire near Crawford. The campus served as an emergency command center and housing for displaced residents and firefighters, marking the second time CSC has stepped up during a major wildfire. 
• Former Eagle Valley athlete inducted into Chadron State College Athletics Hall of Fame (vaildaily.com) — A standout former track and field athlete has added to Chadron’s sports legacy with his induction into the Chadron State College Athletics Hall of Fame. Though he competed for the Eagles only one year, he set enduring multi-event records and later coached CSC athletes to national titles before moving on to other college coaching roles.
• Steve Serres (chadronradio.com) — Chadron is mourning longtime resident Steven Lyle Serres, 73, a former city parks worker, volunteer firefighter, and TSA agent who passed away at home on September 30. Friends and neighbors can pay their respects at his funeral service on October 5 at 10 a.m. at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron.
