North Platte High placed in SECURE after threatening call; no danger found (1011now.com) — North Platte High School briefly went into SECURE status Monday after a swatting phone call falsely reported a threat outside the building, but police quickly determined there was no danger. Law enforcement searched the campus, lifted the SECURE about 1:20 p.m., and officials thanked North Platte staff, students, and families for calmly cooperating.

Primary Election Day, third set of returns (northplattebulletin.com) — North Platte voters are learning early, unofficial results from several key local races, including Ward 3 school board and city council contests, plus legislative and education board seats. With many precincts still to be counted, candidates’ standings could shift, but these tallies give residents a first look at how Lincoln County’s primary is shaping up.

Low voter turnout reported in gubernatorial primary (knopnews2.com) — North Platte voters largely stayed home for this week’s gubernatorial primary, with local election officials reporting unusually light traffic at polling sites despite several important local races on the ballot. Lincoln County Election Commissioner Rebecca Rossell stressed that a handful of votes can still decide contests, recalling races settled by just one to five ballots or even a coin flip. About 2,000 residents voted early, and workers are still processing ballots.

Volunteers spruce up downtown North Platte during annual cleanup (knopnews2.com) — Downtown North Platte just got a spring refresh, as more than 50 volunteers spent Tuesday cleaning up the Canteen District from B Street to Front Street and Willow to Poplar. Longtime organizers say the 25-year tradition keeps the area welcoming for summer visitors while giving residents a hands-on way to show pride in their community.
