• 🎙️Ogallala City Council Hears Updates on Wastewater Investigation, Street Projects, YMCA and City Manager Transition (sandhillspost.com) — Ogallala’s city council is tackling a damaged wastewater treatment system, upcoming 8th Street and west-side asphalt projects, and possible repairs to the city pool while also preparing for City Manager Kevin Wilkins’ retirement at year’s end. Council heard updates on YMCA operations, nuisance tree removals, airport runway work, and east-side nuisance abatements, plus celebrated a successful spring cleanup and this weekend’s Soap Box Derby.
   

• Big Boy Historic Run Planned (ksal.com) — Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive will roll through Nebraska this summer, including a whistle-stop in Ogallala on May 26 as part of a coast‑to‑coast tour for America’s 250th birthday. Rail fans can catch brief viewing opportunities along the route and find exact times and ticket details for special events on Union Pacific’s website.
