📰 News we're reading

• Police face backlash for using electric shock gloves in Nebraska schools (ktvu.com) — Omaha's school superintendent has asked police to stop using electric shock gloves in the city's public schools, and Omaha Police have agreed to halt their use after community pushback. The decision affects most middle and high schools in the district, though nearby Bellevue officers and some other metro districts still plan to carry the controversial devices.

• Week of August 24th Local Bandwidth Bands Live (kibz.com) — Live music fans in Omaha have several chances to catch Local Bandwidth acts this week, including The Platinum Pearls and Hosting Monsters at local venues. The schedule also lists shows in nearby Nebraska towns, so you can plan a quick road trip or stay in the city for Sunday's Public Figure performance.
