The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.
Hello, neighbors. It's Monday in Las Vegas and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in town.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and hot. High: 112 Low: 87.
Here are the top stories today in Las Vegas:
- Homicides are down during the first half of 2022. According to data collected by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, at this point last year, 104 homicides had occurred in the Valley area, while this year that number reached 89. Police say that the leading causes of homicide remain domestic violence and shootouts. Click the link to see an interactive infographic with the full statistics. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- A man is in custody after hitting and killing a bicyclist on Saturday morning. Just after 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of the collision in the area of N. Pecos and Gowan Roads. The man was driving his truck "in a reckless manner" when the accident happened, according to police. The man turned himself in to the police later that day. (News3LV)
- Lightning might not strike twice, but fire can strike three times. The former Crazy Horse Too strip club has been the location of a fire for the third time in several weeks. According to Clark County Fire Department officials, smoke and flames were coming from the front and rear of the club just after 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. 47 responders were called to the scene to bring the blaze under control.
