Crossing guard credited with saving mother, children from speeding car (fox5vegas.com) — A crossing guard in Las Vegas is being hailed as a hero after stepping in front of a speeding car to shield a mother and her two children in a school zone outside Pinecrest Academy St. Rose. Supporters and opponents rallied outside the Greer Education Center, while trustees clashed over whether her social media posts violate board policies and what limits, if any, should apply to apparel at meetings.
   

4. Barry Manilow Says He's Going to 'Sit Down and Shut Up' So He Can Heal (inspiremore.com) — Barry Manilow is pausing his tour to focus on healing after a lung cancer diagnosis, but he's already planning a return to the Westgate Las Vegas stage on October 8. Fans are being assured new Las Vegas concert dates are coming soon, and his supporters are flooding him with encouragement to rest up now so he can perform here later.
   

5. Nevada lawmakers look to Flock camera 'guardrails' (fox5vegas.com) — Nevada lawmakers meeting in Las Vegas are weighing new "guardrails" on Flock license plate reader cameras and similar surveillance tools used by agencies, including local school police. With national misuse cases drawing scrutiny, legislators from both parties expect major debate next session on how to protect public safety while preventing abuse and constitutional violations.
