🌱 Black History Month Poetry Contest + Circus Circus Job Fair

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Good day, neighbors! Dominique-Noelle Rafael here with your Tuesday edition of the Las Vegas Daily.

First, today's weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 62 Low: 39.

Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. Circus Circus will be hosting a job fair on Wednesday for the upcoming spring season. More than 100 line level and management positions need to be filled, including hotel, security, table games, and more. Applicants must submit a COVID-19 test prior to their start date if hired and drug and background checks will be available on-site during the fair. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  2. A Las Vegas strip club is now accepting Bitcoin for lap dances and tipping. On Monday, Crazy Horse 3 gentlemen's club announced that guests can now scan a QR code, which will allow for an instant and seamless Bitcoin payment transaction through their crypto wallet, without leaving a paper trail. The club is located on Russell Road near Allegiant Stadium. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  3. To celebrate the beginning of Black History Month, The City of North Las Vegas is holding a poetry contest centered on the theme, "What does Black History mean to you?" Now through Feb. 7, contest participants can submit their poems via a video that is no longer than 90 seconds for their chance to win a $50 gift card. The submissions deadline is Feb. 7, and winners will be announced on Feb. 10. (News3LV)

From our sponsor:

Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They're chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond "Dry January." We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we've since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.

Enough of you took Betera up on their 15% discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they've extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.

From my notebook:

  • This weekend's tragic accident reminds Las Vegas residents to follow posted speed limits and stop on red. These are simple but vital actions that all drivers can commit to. (Facebook)
  • You can now read about the historical importance of The Blue Angel, thanks to a new plaque that was installed in front of the 15-foot beauty. The Blue Angel watches over the intersection of Eastern, Charleston, and Fremont. (Facebook)
  • Yesterday marked fourteen years since the first Daily Activity Report was issued by Las Vegas Fire and Rescue. It has been disseminated nearly every day including weekends and holidays by the PIO. (Facebook)
  • Because of their strong partnership with Vegas Chamber President's Club Member, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Vegas Chamber members are extended a special ticket discount to the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl on Sun, Feb. 6 at Allegiant Stadium. (Facebook)
