🌱 COVID Cases Pack Vegas Hospitals + Sunrise Pauses COVID Drug

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Up and at 'em, Las Vegas! Let's get you started this Thursday with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 64 Low: 37.

Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Hospitalizations for COVID cases have continued to rise in Las Vegas due to the surge of the Omicron variant. For the fourth week in a row, the Nevada Hospital Association has kept the evaluation of Southern Nevada hospital staffing at a "crisis" level. Even though the Omicron variant is less severe than other variants, the sheer number of cases is stressing out the hospital and all its workers. (Las Vegas Sun)
  2. A year ago, Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center was one of the first centers that treated COVID-19 with monoclonal antibodies. Unfortunately, the demand for the drug is now heavily outweighed by the access to supplies. After only helping about 20 patients, they have paused treatments as they wait for additional supplies of sotrovimab. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. During the summer of 2020, Airbnb instituted precautions that blocked people from hosting large gatherings and parties. Over the past year, they took it a step further by implementing an "anti-party" system. Airbnb has made sure to crack down on popular weekends for parties by blocking bookings during certain dates.
