🌱 Cure 4 The Kids Receives Donation + 911 Calls Released
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Hey, people of Las Vegas! It's me again, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Las Vegas Daily.
First, today's weather:
Cool with plenty of sunshine. High: 57 Low: 35.
Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:
- Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, Nevada's only pediatric cancer center, received a $10,000 donation from the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation. This grant supports the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation's mission which is to work to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness. Christine Tonn, President at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, has stated that she is incredibly thankful and grateful for this generous donation. Tonn believes that this money will really help them with continuing life-saving treatments and programs. (Nevada Business Magazine)
- Recently, nine people were left dead after a tragic car crash that occurred in North Las Vegas. Gary Dean Robinson ran a red light, crashed, and killed nine people, including himself. This past Wednesday, 911 calls were released and helped reveal the moments right before the accident. There are accounts of more than a dozen calls from many shocked witnesses and bystanders. For the full transcript of the conversations, check out the article. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- Maria Shriver has joined forces with the Cleveland Clinic to advance research in neurological diseases in women. Shriver, a broadcast journalist and author, is also a longtime advocate for Alzheimer's disease research. Her focus on women stems from the fact that women are, on average, disproportionately affected by neurological diseases. Her nonprofit Women's Alzheimer's Movement is partnering with the Cleveland Clinic to bolster their research and establish themselves as a place that prioritizes women's health and their aging process. From my notebook:
- The Las Vegas Fire & Rescue wants to remind everyone that it is the law in Nevada to move over one lane or slow down for stopped emergency, service, utility, or DOT vehicles on the highway! It doesn't matter what color lights are flashing. It is important for everyone's safety to slow down and move over. (Facebook)
- Vegas Chamber wants to show everyone that the proof is in the pudding! They are hosting an information session for people to hear directly from a Leadership Advance graduate and the team behind the program. The program begins on Feb. 11. For full details about the event, check out their post! (Facebook)
- The Las Vegas Valley Water District doesn't want anyone to risk getting a fine by watering on the wrong days. To mitigate this issue, they have set up an alert system. By texting CONSERVE to 85357, one will receive a text message to remind them to change their watering clocks when the seasons change. (Facebook)
