Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:
- Derek Carr will remain part of the Las Vegas Raiders for another three years. Yesterday, the quarterback signed a multi-year contract extension; though the Raiders didn't disclose details, a source confirmed them. Carr agreed to a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension that includes a no-trade clause and runs through the 2025 season. (ESPN)
- Shaimaa Abdelhaleem and Jonathan Kim won UNLV's Innovation Challenge with a sustainable economic idea. With malnutrition worse in Nevada than in most other states, the team's idea focuses on microgreens. Kim said the team plans to find an engineer to help design the first product, microgreen growing "kits," and bring it to market with the $25,000 winnings. (KNPR)
- At an intersection near downtown Las Vegas Tuesday night, a three-vehicle crash ended with one person dead and another in custody, according to Las Vegas police. Investigators believe a 2000 Toyota Camry ran a red light at Bruce Street, hitting a Toyota 4Runner that was heading north. The 4Runner struck a 2020 Ford F-550 that was moving south on Bruce and then overturned. The Camry's driver showed signs of impairment — jail records indicate he's facing charges of DUI. (News3LV)
