(Patch Media)

Hello again, Las Vegas! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Las Vegas Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Las Vegas Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Las Vegas long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine, but cold. High: 52 Low: 33.

Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. An agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was caught gambling at a Las Vegas casino using federal funds. The agent was identified to be Scott F. Carpenter, a Special Agent with the FBI's New York City Field Office. A new release from the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that Carpenter pleaded guilty to one count of conversion of government money. According to the release, his sentencing is scheduled for May 18. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  2. Samir Coffee has been in and out of the hospital since his birth in November. He has had to deal with a variety of health issues such as serious fevers, vomiting, and urinary tract infections. Unfortunately, doctors have not been able to provide any reasoning for these issues. The family believes that a baby formula they used could be the cause of their son's problems. A while back a baby formula produced by an Abbott Nutrition facility was recalled. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  3. Students at Mountain View Lutheran Church and School in Las Vegas all got together to make treats and cards to send to servicemen and women deployed in Africa. Chris Korleski stated that in all his years of serving, he never received a gift like this. He and the rest of his squad were very grateful for the presents. Mountain View Lutheran is one of the eight Purple Star Schools in Nevada. These schools have made it a point in their curriculum to honor military servicemen and women. (KTNV Las Vegas)
