Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Jennifer Parker went above and beyond the call of duty for an unhoused woman she met during a routine call. The 14-year law enforcement learned that local resident, Rachel Dunlap, had been staying in her car after losing her job and was looking for "a fresh start." The next day, Officer Parker mobilized friends and family to donate items like couches, cookware, towels, and other furnishings so Dunlap could move into a new home with everything she needed for that fresh start. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
  2. According to the Clark County coroner's office, the 2020 death of a toddler was caused by blunt force head trauma with macrocephaly. Victor Ortiz, who was 21 months old at the time of his death, had reportedly fallen and had a seizure at home. Investigators have ruled Ortiz's death as "undetermined," and the case remains open. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Feb. 26 shooting of 14 people at a Las Vegas hookah lounge. Lee Wilson, 44, was arrested and booked into CCDC for one count of open murder and 12 counts of attempted murder. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in the 900 block of East Sahara Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard. Officials say Wilson had previously been sentenced to 12 to 30 months in January of 2020 in connection with another murder case. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
