Chapala's Mexican Restaurant prepares to close in east Las Vegas after more than 30 years (ktnv.com) — A beloved east Las Vegas staple, Chapala's Mexican Restaurant on East Tropicana, is preparing to close after more than 30 years serving local families. The Flores family, among the first to open a Mexican restaurant in the valley, is retiring and inviting customers to visit for a final meal before the end of November. Regulars say they'll miss the community as much as the food.
   

2. McKee Ranch manager says Doberman helped her befriend homeless man at park (news3lv.com) — In Las Vegas, McKee Ranch's general manager says her Doberman's daily park walks led her to befriend a homeless man named Jonathan, who's slowly rebuilding his life with a new dishwashing job. The ranch has set up a GoFundMe and hopes to hire him and find housing closer to the property. Locals are invited to support Jonathan and learn about the ranch's mission.
   

3. Nevada candidate forums set for this week in Reno, Las Vegas (publicnewsservice.org) — Las Vegas residents can meet candidates for mayor, Congress, county commission, and state Assembly at a free nonpartisan forum this Friday at Mountaintop Ministries. Organizers from several Nevada justice coalitions want voters to directly question candidates about rent, climate change, and immigration. You can RSVP online and even watch via livestream if you can't attend.
   

4. Henderson Animal Shelter storage unit robbed of donations worth thousands (reviewjournal.com) — A nearby Henderson Animal Shelter says thieves broke into its storage unit and stole thousands of dollars' worth of donated pet supplies, and staff are now urgently asking the community for help. Las Vegas-area residents can pitch in by donating through FOHAS.org or the shelter's Amazon wishlist while police investigate. The shelter promises more details as surveillance footage is reviewed.
