🌱 Police Find Severed Head + Rock Climbing Helps At-Risk Youth

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, Las Vegas! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to celebrate the New Year, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding of this slight pause in our schedule, and I will be back on Monday with the next edition of the Las Vegas Daily! Now, here's everything happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and cool. High: 58 Low: 37.

Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Las Vegas police have found a severed head and several other body parts in a truck driven by the murder suspect, Eric Holland. After the chase for Holland, police were able to capture him and uncover what he was hiding in his vehicle. To their dismay, they found the chopped-up body of Richard P. Miller, an acquaintance of Holland. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  2. Ted Pappageorge, an avid rock climber, launched Higher Ground Climbing and Wellness to give at-risk youth access to this uplifting sport. This vision came to Pappageorge's mind while rock climbing one day. He was entranced by all the wellness around him and decided that this needed to be shared. The nonprofit has helped around 20 kids and teenagers so far! (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. Many more tech companies are planning to reduce in-person presence at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month. BMW has actually stated that they are moving all their planned media activities to a "fully digital program" very soon. While other companies are still planning to attend, one can expect there to not be a large crowd in physical attendance next year. (News3LV)
