🌱 Indoor Masking Advised In Vegas + Injured Police Officers Fund

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

(Patch Media)

Hello, neighbors! It's me, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Las Vegas Daily — here to explain everything you need to know about what's happening in town these days.

First, today's weather:

Breezy in the morning; sunny. High: 99 Low: 74.

Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. As COVID-19 cases in Las Vegas continue to rise, the Southern Nevada Health District is advising a return to indoor mask-wearing. As of this past Friday, Clark County is at a "high community level" of transmission. In an effort to slow the virus' spread, the health district recently launched two vending machines that contain self-test kits: one at the Bonneville Transit Center and one at Mesa View Regional Hospital. (KDWN)
  2. The Injured Police Officers Fund is selling bracelets in honor of a Las Vegas detective who died while on duty. On Jun. 10, Detective Justin Terry was driving behind a tractor-trailer on US 95 when a beam fell onto the highway. Proceeds from the sales will go directly to Terry's family, as well as families of other fallen or injured officers.(Fox 5 Las Vegas)
  3. A couple who met at an assisted living facility in Las Vegas exchanged rings and vows this weekend. Carolyn Brylinski and John Hansell, both widowers, fell in love at the Oakmont of Las Vegas. On Saturday, the two stood in front of their children and neighbors to say their "I do's." (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
