Morning, everybody. I'm back in your inbox this morning with the most important things happening these days in Las Vegas. Here goes.
First, today's weather:
Plenty of sunshine. High: 108 Low: 81.
Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:
- Two years ago, a woman took part in anti-police protests. Now, she is suing the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. According to reports, Alexandra Devore claims that she was unfairly targeted due to her public support of the Black Lives Matter movement. She specifically states that "LVMPD, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, Metro Police Lt. Kurt McKenzie, and 12 LVMPD officers violated her civil rights and other laws." (Casino.Org News)
- The first-ever Pride event that celebrates fluid identities in Las Vegas' Indigenous communities took place last Friday. The IndigiPride festival marked a new beginning. The event took place at the Las Vegas Indian Center, and attendees were treated to musical and spoken word performances. For more information on the festival and what took place, please read the full article. (KNPR)

Are you a Las Vegas resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
