VA awards more than $84,000 in grants for adaptive sports programs in Nevada (va.gov) — New VA grants totaling $84,469 are boosting adaptive sports programs for veterans in Nevada, with the announcement coming from North Las Vegas. These funds will expand opportunities for local former service members with disabilities to stay active through activities like cycling, archery, and wheelchair sports, helping them build confidence, independence, and social connections close to home.
   

2. Should Nevada set a minimum age for e-bikes and e-scooters? (news3lv.com) — If your kids ride e-bikes or e-scooters in North Las Vegas, local law already requires them to wear helmets, and parents can be fined if they don’t. Trauma doctors report a sharp rise in serious injuries, prompting officials to push state lawmakers to consider minimum ages and clearer safety rules that could soon affect how families here use these devices.
   

3. Las Vegas man gets nearly 6 years in prison for string of bank robberies (lasvegassun.com) — A Las Vegas man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for three armed bank robberies committed in North Las Vegas and Henderson in early 2025. Investigators say he used a BB gun to threaten employees while an accomplice drove the getaway car, and North Las Vegas Police worked with the FBI and Henderson Police to close the case.
   

4. Operation Loaded Dice nets 144 arrests, seizes drugs, guns and cash bound for cartels (news3lv.com) — A major 68-day law-enforcement sweep in Southern Nevada, supported by the North Las Vegas Police Department, led to 144 arrests and seized over $1 million, nearly 300 guns, and more than a ton of drugs. Officials say many suspects have local ties, and the effort aims to disrupt cartel-linked trafficking networks that push fentanyl and other narcotics into communities like North Las Vegas.
