Families can walk dusty desert trails, attend special programs like cheetah runs or wolf howls, and support animal care through admission and gift shop purchases. Local deputies, a special response team, and flight medics coordinated the difficult backcountry rescue, and officials are urging anyone exploring remote areas near Reno to plan carefully and carry reliable communication gear.
   

4. UNR speaker highlights linguistic discrimination concerns (thisisreno.com) — At the University of Nevada, Reno, students recently heard linguist Ana Celia Zentella warn about growing linguistic discrimination and the fading use of Spanish among younger generations. Her Hispanic Heritage Month talk connected national trends to Nevada's sizable Latino population and UNR's diverse student body, encouraging Reno students of all backgrounds to value bilingualism, Spanglish, and cultural heritage on campus and beyond.
