Airport leaders say the added route boosts convenience and connectivity, reflecting a 14% increase in Southwest's fall capacity over last year for the local community.

Report: Washoe fire agencies should align now, but better service will cost more (thisisreno.com) — Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County fire agencies face at least a $286 million five-year funding gap, and a new draft study warns residents that maintaining current fire and EMS protection will likely require higher taxes or fees. The report recommends immediate regional alignment and eventually a single regional fire authority, plus a new dispatch center, while inviting public feedback before final decisions this fall.

From the RN&R: A newly appointed MacArthur 'genius' once left his mark on Reno (renonr.com) — A newly named MacArthur "genius grant" recipient once created a striking three-story mural on the former Monte Carlo Motel during the 2017 Reno Mural Expo, leaving a memorable mark on downtown. The piece highlighted Navajo and Hopi environmental concerns, and organizers now hope to bring the artist back for a future mural event in nearby Carson City.
