Important Information:
Road Closure Update. The projected road openings have been pushed back to 2 p.m. Public Works will be inspecting the roads to ensure safety prior to opening. Time is tentative, and could change. Trying to keep emergency crews and residents safe as they transition back into the neighborhoods. Allowing people to walk in; main concern is vehicle traffic. Please don’t attempt to drive into the area until the roads are declared open.
The evacuation center at the Washoe County Senior Center, 1155 E. 9th St. in Reno closed as of 10:15 p.m. on November 17. COVID-19 positive evacuees can email covidhousingteam@washoecounty.us for access to housing through WellCare.

Currently, the Pinehaven Fire is at 5 percent containment. The Reno Fire Department (RFD) is continuing mop up and structure assessments throughout the morning and in the coming days.
RFD is hoping to be at 100 percent containment by Friday, November 20. Wind gusts of up to 40 MPH are expected today, so it’s important for the public to know that things can change quickly.
Cause is still under investigation. Investigators from RFD, NV Energy and the State Fire Marshal’s office will be working throughout the day to determine a cause as quickly as possible.
RFD can say for sure that we have five lost structures. Approximately 15 additional damaged structures. That number may adjust throughout the day as we learn more. Actual burned acres still unknown, pending further assessment.
Two firefighters were injured during the fire, but they have since been treated and released.
Reno Fire was assisted by a number of regional partners through Mutual Aid, and we thank them profusely for their help and tireless work.
NV Energy reports that power has been restored for all customers who had their power shutoff yesterday due to the Pinehaven Fire.

The Reno Police Department (RPD) will continue to maintain a strong police presence in the neighborhood, and protect homes that have been evacuated.
RFD is asking the public to call in if they see anything. If residents have an emergency, please call 911. For general information, Reno Direct (775-334-4636) will be available today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve has signed a Declaration of the Existence of a Local State of Emergency for the Pinehaven Fire.
The Pinehaven Fire (#pinehavenfire) started shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17 near the intersection of Pinehaven Road and Sierra Pine Drive in Reno. This area is generally in southwest Reno, also known as the Caughlin Ranch area.
