D.4 - Coronavirus Relief Funding

Staff presented updates and options for Phase Two of CARES Act funding. This round of federal funding includes $23.3 million, including spending for remote learning for students, and nearly double the funding for facilities for the unsheltered population. Additional money will go toward rent and eviction relief programs and ten times the financial support for COVID testing and tracing. Awarded funds will also be available for businesses affected by the pandemic downturn.

D.1 - Zoning Code RENOvation

Council was presented with updates on the overhaul of zoning plans and requirements. The multi-year project is designed to streamline zoning and make it more transparent and reliable. If adopted, it would combine and consolidate different zones in order to make development easier and to increase public engagement.

D.3 - American Flat Advanced Purified Water Demonstration Project

Council directed staff to explore future agreements with Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) for collaboration on an advanced purified water project in the North Valleys. That directive includes a focus on cost-sharing between the City of Reno and TMWA to ensure equitability to their respective customers. The Demonstration Project will investigate long-range water supply and storage in the region.
