Reno Names New Director Of Human Resources
Stream begins her employment with the City from March 15, 2021.

The City of Reno has announced the hire of Brooke Stream as the new Director of Human Resources. Stream begins her employment with the City today, Monday, March 15, 2021.

The Director of Human Resources plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Human Resources Department including employee benefits, employee relations, labor relations, and related operations and services. This position is also involved in the decisions of management affecting collective bargaining, and serves on the Management Team for the City.
Stream comes to the City of Reno from the City of Henderson, where she was the Manager of Organizational Effectiveness in the Department of Human Resources since 2018. In that role, she oversaw the City’s programs and initiatives relating to training and organizational development, employee culture and engagement, diversity and inclusion, performance management and succession planning.

“We are very excited to add Brooke to our City of Reno team,” City Manager Doug Thornley said. “Human Resources influences all personnel across our organization, and Brooke’s previous experience will lend itself to furthering our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.”
Prior to her current role, Stream served as a Human Resources Business Partner for the City of Henderson, providing guidance and assistance for several city departments with respect to all facets of Human Resources.
Stream has been involved in the field of Human Resources for nearly 25 years, all in the public sector. First with Clark County, Nevada for 18 years, and at Henderson since 2014. During her lengthy tenure with Clark County, Stream worked both in Human Resources and in several County departments as an HR liaison.

I believe my breadth of experiences in Human Resources, as well as my passion for people and a solution-based approach to HR, will be key to being successful in this new role. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Director of Human Resources at the City and become part of the Northern Nevada community.”
Stream is a graduate of Leadership Las Vegas, Clark County’s Management Academy and Leadership Forum, and holds a Master’s Degree from UNLV in Urban Leadership. She is a member of the Southern Nevada International Public Management Association (SNIPMA) and Past President of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
