• Sparks Police arrest man for murder in fatal weekend shooting (2news.com) — A man has been arrested on a murder charge after a late-night shooting on Woodhaven Drive in Sparks that left 26-year-old Dante Williams dead despite emergency treatment. Police say officers spotted a fleeing vehicle, later tracked suspect Charly Villalobos the next evening, and took him into custody with help from regional gang and crime units.
   

• Reno approves nearly $186,000 in wildfire rental assistance for 50 households (thisisreno.com) — Sparks residents affected financially by the recent Bug, Fred, Stallion, or Hawk fires may qualify for state-funded rental assistance through a regional program run by Reno's housing department. So far, three Sparks households have been approved, and the aid can cover hotel stays, rent, and deposits, with applications available online or by phone for those needing help navigating housing options.
