Merrimack Man Busted on Burglary Charges in Amherst
Police arrest Dylan Provost after three-week investigation into incidents on Route 101A; perp has previous burglary, crime history.

AMHERST, NH — Police in Amherst believe they have the man who was a suspect in a string of burglaries at businesses last month on Route 101A, according to a press statement. Dylan Provost, 24, of Merrimack, was arraigned on Dec. 7, 2016, on charges after a three-week investigation into the incidents on Nov. 19.

Police were sent to Route 101A back in November after forced entry burglary incidents were reported at Kathy Blake Dance Studio, Gymnastics Village, DAPR Engineering, and Sunrise Children’s Center. Cash and several laptops were stolen, according to police.

Mark O. Reams, the chief of the Amherst Police Department, noted that a single suspect was identified and later, arrested on a warrant that was obtained at the conclusion of the investigation. Reams stated that Provost was remanded to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections on $5,000 cash bail until a probable cause hearing.
According to reports on New Hampshire Patch.com sites, Provost is no stranger to police. He was arrested in October 2011 after reportedly burglarizing the rectory of a church in Merrimack and stealing cash, medication, and jewelry. That month, he was also arrested for trespassing. About nine months later, he was arrested in Nashua for criminal trespass of real property. In July 2013, he was arrested again for receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle without proof of financial responsibility, disobeying a police officer, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
