Nash: Bedford Town Council Retreats To Avoid Public Viewership

The Bedford Town Council is changing its standard practice of broadcasting their public meetings on BCTV (Bedford's taxpayer-subsidized public-access tv station), and will retreat to a conference room at the police station to discuss their goals for Bedford.

On Saturday, March 30th, the Council will review a wide variety of topics, including the "Police Station/Fire Sub Station Warrant Article Failure: Where do we go from here?".

The Town council has chosen to intentionally restrict the public's ability to view these strategic discussions, in contrast to every other regular public meeting.

Why avoid public-access cameras for this one meeting, especially when our elected officials will be discussing topics which they interpret as the most important for their constituents?

It's time to end these "retreats".

It is a public meeting of the Council, and deserves the same BCTV access as every other Town Council meeting.
