Police tried to stop Leon Blount of Dorchester last night for illegal tinting on his Chevrolet Malibu but he allegedly fled, crashed car.

MANCHESTER, NH — A Massachusetts felon was arrested last night and held without bail after crashing his vehicle in the Queen City while allegedly attempting to flee from cops, according to a report. Leon Blount, 24, of Dorchester, MA, was arrested on Oct. 1, 2017, for possession by convicted felons, reckless conduct, receiving stolen property, possession of controlled drug, operating with a suspended license, and disobeying a police officer. At around 7:30 p.m. last night, an officer saw a vehicle with an illegal tint on its windows near the intersection of Union and Central streets, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

“(They) activated their emergency lights and attempted to stop the Chevrolet Malibu,” O’Keefe alleged. “The operator accelerated toward Beech Street and made several abrupt turns toward Lake Avenue and Union Street before crashing on Merrimack Street.” (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Bedford NH Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The driver – later identified as Blount – reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two other vehicles on Merrimack Street, O’Keefe stated. Blount was taken into custody without incident.
Officers allegedly located a stolen Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun on the driver’s side of the car. The gun was reported stolen back in August during a Manchester burglary. They also allegedly located a small amount of marijuana and $970 in cash.
