A woman alleged that she was involved in an argument with her boyfriend – Potvin – about his alleged drug usage inside the home, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department. She threatened to leave with their child, who was present at the time, and then everything reportedly started to unravel.
“Potvin threatened her with a knife prior to causing several non-life threatening lacerations on her arm with the same knife,” O’Keefe stated. “He allegedly threw her on the ground and began choking her.”
The victim alleged that Potvin burned "her several times with the end of a cigarette, punched her repeatedly, and kicked her during the assault while threatening to harm himself," according to O'Keefe.
An alert was put out for Potvin. Bedford Police officers located and arrested him at just before 2:30 a.m. on Quincy Drive in Bedford.
“Potvin was in possession of a knife at the time of his arrest,” according to O’Keefe. “The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.”
According to online alerts, Potvin, a former Bedford resident, was arrested in December 2011 for interfering with a fire apparatus and a warrant for nonappearance in Derry District Court. In February 2014, he was arrested for violation of probation on heroin and Alprazolam possession charges.
