1 Tased, Arrests Made After Melee In Downtown Concord: Watch

Concord police, firefighters, and NH State Police troopers were all sent to a fight on Sunday morning on South Main Street; 1 person Tased.

CONCORD, NH — For the second time in two weeks, a brigade of cops were sent downtown for a report of a fight on Main Street.

Around 12:45 a.m., police and fire and rescue teams began receiving reports about a fight involving at least a half dozen people on South Main Street. No injuries were reported, at first.

An officer, on a traffic stop not far from the area, arrived first about a minute later. The fight, they said, had been broken up but they needed more units.

As officers began to take names and check for active warrants, at least one woman could be heard screaming across police radios. Officers quickly requested fire and rescue teams to assist. A dispatcher said they were also requesting New Hampshire State Police troopers, after hearing the yelling. Merrimack County Sheriff’s Department employees also arrived to assist.

The northbound side of South Main Street was closed to traffic during the incident.

At around 1 a.m., an officer Tased a person. One officer requested pictures to be taken after the deployment, according to scanner chatter.

At least two people, a man and a woman, were taken into custody by police. Charges were unknown at post time. One person was taken to the hospital.

As the officers began to clear, around 1:30 a.m., dispatch began receiving calls about another fight on North Main Street, in the historic district.

A pickup truck with Massachusetts plates was reportedly revving loudly, while the fight was going on, dispatch said. Another officer found members of the incident in the area of Horseshoe Pond and on North State Street, according to scanner chatter.

It is unknown, at post time, if there were any arrests in the second incident.
