18th Annual Jewish Food Festival

Enjoy delicious Jewish Food at the 18th Annual Jewish Food Festival at Temple B'nai Israel in Laconia and shop at the Nearly New Boutique.

LAKES REGION JEWISH FOOD FESTIVAL ON SUNDAY JULY 12

Once again, the event to attend this summer is the 18th Annual Jewish Food Festival at Temple B’nai Israel in Laconia on Sunday, July 12, from 11:00-2:00. People will be coming together from all over NH and beyond to enjoy the memories of the tastes and smells from the kitchens of Jewish mothers and Bubbes (grandmothers) through the ages…. from traditional Jewish cooking to delicatessen delights to amazing desserts and more! There will be a huge array of authentic textures and tastes with homemade cheese blintzes, kugels, knishes (meat & potato), latkes (potato pancakes), sandwiches filled with choice of pastrami, brisket, corned beef or tongue, stuffed cabbage, herring salad, chopped liver, matzo ball soup, strudel, rugelach, and so much more!

Under the leadership of Sue Needleman, TBI’s talented cooking crew of women and men have been gathering over a four month period before Festival Day for planning and recipe selection as well as participating in dozens of cooking and baking sessions in the Temple kitchen. Per Needleman, “We have made hundreds of servings of most items and purchased nearly 300 pounds of your favorite meats, but everything goes quickly. Don’t be late and risk having your favorite item sold out!”

At the Festival itself, along with the large quantities of all of the food so that attendees can eat to their heart’s content, there will be a speedier check-out process to improve the flow of attendees as well as additional tables and chairs. The Jewish Food Festival in Laconia ranks with the best and there will be a take-out food service once again.

Here is a sampling of what last year’s Food Festival attendees had to say about the food:

· What a treat! I haven’t had this since my grandmother made it. Please thank the person who made this.

· Better than some Jewish style deli’s in DC!

· We don’t know enough about Jewish Food to say, however everything we ate was very good!!

· The best pastrami sandwich that I’ve ever had!

· Terrific! Reminds me of when my mom used to cook.

· Blintzes and Latkes: Wow!

· The best corned beef sandwich!

· Keep it going more often!

This Festival is about more than food. You will find treasures at the Nearly New Boutique on the front lawn as well as new Judaica items inside. Attendees will also meet old and new friends from the community at large, both Jewish Food connoisseurs and rookies,

The Jewish Festival takes place at Temple B’nai Israel at 210 Court Street in Laconia which will be tented and credit cards are accepted. More information can be found at www.tbinh.org and questions should be directed to foodfestival@tbinh.org.
