2 People Injured, 2 Dogs Shaken Up After I-93 Crash In Canterbury

CANTERBURY, NH — Canterbury fire and rescue teams, as well as New Hampshire State Police, assisted people and pets involved in a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday.

Around 8:15 a.m., firefighters were sent to a crash on Interstate 93 south. When they arrived, they found two vehicles off the side of the travel lanes.

One driver was uninjured but the second vehicle, an SUV, which had a driver, passenger, and two dogs inside, was significantly damaged, according to Chief Michael Gamache of the Canterbury Fire Department.

"The passenger sustained moderate-non-life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle utilizing extrication tools," he said. "The driver of vehicle No. 2 sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to Concord Hospital."

Gamache said the fact both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts was one reason neither person sustained life-threatening injuries.

Two dogs inside the vehicle were "shaken" but did not appear injured.

"A coordinated effort was made with New Hampshire State Police to transport the two dogs from the scene while the owners sought medical treatment," Gamache said.
