27 Left Homeless After Concord Apartment Fire
Breaking: Concord Fire and Rescue teams battled a two-alarm blaze off Manchester Street.
CONCORD, NH — Concord Fire and Rescue teams were called to an apartment building last night on Garvins Falls Road to battle a two-alarm blaze. The teams were called to the Farmhouse Apartments on 4 Garvins Falls Road at just before midnight for a report of smoke in the building.
Residents were evacuated and a second alarm was struck at 12:09 a.m. on March 13, 2017, according to Concord Fire Chief Dan Andrus.

“Further investigation revealed a fire in the concealed space at the front of the building,” Andrus noted. “The fire was quickly controlled, but companies remained on the scene to open concealed spaces and check for hidden fires.”

Mutual aid teams from Allenstown, Boscawen, Bow, Chichester, Hopkinton, Pembroke and Hooksett, all came to help while Loudon, Hopkinton, and Penacook Rescue provided coverage for the city during the fire, Andrus stated.
There were no injuries, Andrus noted, adding that fire investigators were waiting for the suppression operations to be completed to begin their examination of the scene.
Fifteen families were displaced due to the fire.

Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers, according to Lloyd Ziel, of the American Red Cross, have met with the 23 adult and four children who lived in the building to ensure they have a safe place to sleep and have food, clothing, and other essentials.
“Over the next several days, Red Cross client casework volunteers will stay in contact with the residents and provide referrals as they begin the road to recovery,” he said in an email.
According to previous Patch arrest and indictment reports, police have made a number of drug and other arrests at the building during the past five-plus years.
