$3,000 in Gifts Stolen from Needy Children: NHSP

The trooper investigating the theft of Operation Santa Claus gifts from a state warehouse in Concord is asking for help solving the crime.

The trooper investigating the theft of thousands of dollars worth of gifts for New Hampshire children is asking for help solving the crime.

According to an alert, sometime between Nov. 25, and Nov. 30, 2015, a window at the Department of Transportation building on Stickney Avenue in Concord was smashed and a thief or thieves accessed the building.

An estimated $3,000 worth of gift cards, earmarked for children as part of the Operation Santa Claus charitable initiative by the SEA 1984/SEIU, were stolen from a state-owned van that was locked inside of the garage, according to state police. The gift cards were from Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Tools, including a hammer drill, nail gun, and electric saw, were also stolen from the building.

“It is possible other packaged gifts might have been stolen,” according to Trooper Mark Magoon. “An inventory of items is still being conducted to see if anything else is missing.”

Andrew Toland of the SEA told Patch that he believed that state employees were going to be able to find the resources to make sure that all of the gift requests made would be filled.
