1 Dies At Concord Hospital After Multi-Vehicle Crash On Loudon Road: Follow-Up
Watch: Concord police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash at Fort Eddy Road and the Exit 14 interchange on Friday morning.
CONCORD, NH — Five people were sent to Concord Hospital, while three others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash at Fort Eddy Road and Loudon Road.
An officer came upon the crash around 11 a.m. and told dispatch, “It doesn’t look good,” while requesting ambulances immediately.
“I’ve got multiple hurt here,” the officer said.

Other officers also headed to the scene.
The damaged vehicles, at least six, including several SUVs and pickup trucks, were in the middle of the intersection of the two roads and the Exit 14 northbound offramp.

Police immediately shut down the westbound side of Loudon Road at the arena and requested more officers to shut down the eastbound lane. A parking unit also came to the area to assist.
An officer at the scene requested more officers to shut down the road to the west of Interstate 93.

When the first EMTs arrived, they requested more ambulances and asked for the trauma alert to be activated at Concord Hospital. The fire battalion requested at least two more ambulances a few minutes later. EMTs from Bow and the Tri-Town Ambulance came to the city along with three Concord ambulances.
Two patients were taken to hospital and police went to speak to the drivers. Three more were taken later.
A driver from Maine in her late 30s was injured, as were two elderly drivers, one in their late 60s and the other in their early 80s.
New Hampshire State Police were also requested to assist with closing the Exit 14 interchange. New Hampshire Department of Transportation employees arrived, too, to assist. Merrimack County Sheriff’s Department employees, too, came into the city to assist with other criminal issues in the city.
The fire commander asked dispatch to reach out to Concord Hospital to see if they could handle all the patients and it was confirmed they could a few minutes later.
After the five patients were taken to the hospital, Bow was cleared and stayed on to offer mutual aid to the city during the incident. Three people were not taken to the hospital.

The evidence rig was brought to the scene and officers requested the closure be pushed back to Centre and North Main streets around 11:30 a.m.
A few minutes later, an officer requested another cruiser to the intersection of Hazen Drive and Loudon Road to shut it down. After closing the road, drivers became “very angry,” the officer said.
“They are making these unsafe U-turns,” the officer said.
Around 11:45 a.m., firefighters cleared the scene.
A witness at the scene reported to Patch that a mid-sized SUV was driving westbound at a high rate of speed and slammed into a pickup truck. The pickup truck’s bed was demolished, they said. The truck then crashed into other vehicles.
An officer said around 12:30 p.m. that the road would be closed for several hours.
At around 3:45 p.m., Stefanie Breton, the public information officer for the city, said one person involved in the crash, who was in critical condition, had died at Concord Hospital.
