911 Suspicious Person With A Gun Call Leads To Charges

Docs: Chad Belleville of Center Barnstead was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police at the McDonald's Restaurant on Fisherville Road.

CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested recently after police received a tip about a man with a bandana with a firearm standing near a restaurant drive-thru, according to court documents. Chad Belleville, 34, with a last known address of Damsite Road in Center Barnstead, was arrested on Sept. 11, 2017, and charged with false report to law enforcement and resisting arrest or detention. Dispatch, according to a court affidavit, received a 911 call on Sept. 10, at just before 11 p.m. about a man with a gun but before the exact location was reported, the call cut off.

The reporting officer went to the scene and met with an employee – who was outside – as well as a man, later identified as Belleville, who was heard asking about McGriddle sandwiches. He then headed into the restaurant. The officer followed and alleged that Belleville allegedly had a bandana around his neck, tucked into his sweatshirt. Belleville then reportedly ordered two McGriddles – but didn’t have any money to pay for the sandwiches.

“Belleville stated that his girlfriend was on her way to the store and that she had money to pay for his food,” the officer alleged. “Belleville began to walk away from the register and head toward the door.”

The officer wrote that this seemed odd so he asked to speak with Belleville and he reportedly agreed to speak outside. But when he exited the door, Belleville allegedly “broke out into a full sprint” from the restaurant.

The officer ordered him to stop while calling for backup as Belleville allegedly crossed Fisherville Road into bushes near the Oak Bridge apartment complex. He allegedly slowed down, near some mulch, reached for his waistband, and then sped up again, the officer alleged. Belleville reportedly then lost his footing and fell to his hands and knees.

The reporting officer and another officer were able to secure Belleville in handcuffs and pat him down, according to an affidavit. In a front pocket, they allegedly found a pair of white gloves and a screwdriver. A license belonging to another man was also allegedly found.

“Belleville remained adamant that he was, in fact, (the other man on the license) even though the photograph on (the) identification did not resemble Belleville,” the officer alleged.

Officers then scoured the area and retraced the pursuit steps in an effort to see if they could find a gun. An officer allegedly found a black BB gun in the same area where Belleville was reaching for his waistband, according to the report.

Belleville allegedly continued to claim his name was the same as the one on the license but after running his fingerprints, he was positively identified as Belleville. He was held and arraigned the next day.

Previously, according to reports online, Belleville was convicted of vehicular and second-degree assault after an accident that injured a person while he was texting. He challenged the conviction in court but it was later upheld. He was arrested in May, according to the Laconia Daily Sun, on an operating after suspension charge after allegedly being in a vehicle with a woman who was reportedly in possession of carfentanil. Belleville was arrested about six years ago on providing a fictitious name, obstructing governmental administration, and possession of narcotic drugs charges in Gilford, according to the Laconia Daily Sun. Alton Police also charged him with burglary after his arrest in Concord last month.
