CONCORD, NH — After extinguishing a tree fire on Horseshoe Pond in Concord on Sunday, fire and rescue teams were sent to an alarm activation on South Main Street in the Lee Block at the intersection with Theatre Street.
Capital region dispatch told firefighters around 11:30 a.m., there was a fire inside one of the upstairs units, which was causing the alarm.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the second floor. Firefighters tapped a hydrant while a commander confirmed flames were coming from a window on the north side of the building. The commander also requested the teams at Horseshoe Pond to clear and come to South Main Street.

The fire commander sent firefighters to the third floor to check for fire extension while other firefighters checked units throughout the building. The firefighters reported smoke in the units but “no heat,” according to scanner chatter.
The fire commander requested other firefighters to prepare fans to air out the building. Dispatch also asked if they wanted fire prevention to head to the scene, and they said, “Yes, please.”
Firefighters on the upper floors confirmed significant smoke but no fire extension. One of the firefighters said they had pulled baseboards and trim, attempting to find a fire extension, but did not find anything.
Around noon, the fire commander requested Bow firefighters and the Penacook ambulance to cover the central station. They also said they would be clearing some firefighters soon.
About 15 minutes later, the commander began releasing teams from South Main Street.
