According to police, members of the town’s investigative services unit were “surveillance in the parking lot of a local hotel which had recently become a hot spot for narcotics sales” when they saw a Jeep Wrangler pull into a parking spot, according to Lt. Joel Dolan.

Another man approached the Jeep and the two engaged in what appeared to be small talk. Within minutes though, detectives reportedly saw the man standing near the Jeep pass what appeared to be cash to the man in the Jeep.

“The male in the Jeep then passed what appeared to be a plastic bag to the other male,” according to Dolan. “Detectives approached the two and confronted them with their observations. Detectives later found one male in possession of a plastic bag with what appeared to be crystal meth, this suspicion was later confirmed through field testing.”

The second man was also in possession of a quantity of cash that had just been passed to him to purchase the meth, according to Dolan.

Deane was held on $25,000 cash bail and was arraigned earlier today. His bail was also lowered to $10,000 cash, according to police.
