Allenstown Woman Allegedly Assaults Officer, then Offers a Kiss
Concord Police: Claire Watjen was screaming at the hospital, didn't want to be taken into protective custody.

A local woman is expected to be arraigned in court next month after allegedly assaulting an officer after allegedly refusing to be placed into protective custody.
Claire A. Watjen, 55, of River Road in Allenstown, was arrested at 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2015, and charged with simple assault and resisting arrest or detention.
According to an arrest report, officers were sent to Concord Hospital at around 3:30 a.m. to take a woman, later identified as Watjen, into protective custody, due to her “high level of intoxication.” A nurse in the emergency room stated that she had been transported to the hospital earlier and had to leave.

The officer saw Watjen on a hospital bed with a telephone in her hand.
“Claire looked at me and said something to the effect of, ‘Oh, so now I’m under arrest?,’” the officer alleged.

The officer explained that she wasn’t under arrest but would be taken into protective custody, for her own safety, and transported to jail in order to sober up. Watjen repeated the question to the officer and her behavior allegedly “escalated from there.” Another nurse and a security officer were also called over at this time, according to the report.
Watjen requested a moment to call her son but reportedly began fumbling with her telephone, trying to dial a number. After several minutes, a nurse told Watjen that the officers were “done waiting for her” and tried to take her phone away. She allegedly screamed, “Don’t ------- touch me! I have a rod in my back!”
The officer demanded her phone and Watjen allegedly “began to thrash around frantically until she pulled her cellphone out from her pocket.” She again said she was going to call her son but instead, reportedly began smashing the screen of her iPhone with her fingers. The officer offered to help her dial the number but she allegedly refused and began screaming again about not wanting to be touched.
More time went by and Watjen was told they weren’t going to wait for her any longer again. Nurses began to assist her in sitting up so she could get her jacket on but she allegedly thrashed her arms out and attempted to hit the nurses.
“Don’t ------- touch me, I’ll sue you,” she allegedly stated, and the nurses backed away.
After getting her coat and shoes on, Watjen reportedly began screaming and cursing at everyone and was asked to stop but continued and threatened to sue police, according to the report.
While being helped up to be placed into custody, Watjen allegedly swung at one officer’s face, who ducked out of the way. They attempted to put her in a wheelchair and she reportedly went limp and started screaming again. She allegedly took another swing at an officer and was warned to stop but then reportedly kicked the officer in the thigh.
Watjen was put in handcuffs and taken away.
During processing, Watjen calmed down and her mood completely changed. She began asking the officer personal questions and allegedly offered to kiss him a few times. She reportedly accused the officer of locking her up so he couldn’t get kissed, according to the report. Watjen reportedly cried later and stated, embarrassingly, “I can’t believe this happened. I’m guilty. That’s what happens with alcohol and narcotics,” according to the report.
Watjen is due in court on March 2.
