According to a police report, officers were called to Wilkins Street near Rockland Avenue for a report of a possible motor vehicle theft. When the officer arrived, he spoke with McCann, who was reportedly sitting in a Honda Civic. Aikens allegedly was walking away from the area.
“McCann immediately stated he was visiting a friend and claimed to know the owner of the vehicle,” according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe. “(The officer) felt McCann was being less than truthful, so he made contact with the owner of the car. The owner, who resides on Warner Street, told the officer she did not know McCann. The owner also stated she was missing ‘loose change’ from her center console.”

McCann was arrested and officers alleged that he was in possession of loose change and a mechanics screwdriver.
Another officer spoke with Aikens and she allegedly “no legitimate reason to be in the area, so she was arrested.”
Police believe they pair may be connected to other incidents in the area, according to the report.
