HOOKSETT, NH — A man from Manchester is facing multiple charges after being accused of stealing a vehicle in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and fleeing from cops in New Hampshire on Wednesday morning.
Franklin police were involved in an early morning chase in the city connected to a reportedly stolen DPW truck. They issued alerts across the state regarding the chase. Around 5:30 a.m., a Hooksett police officer in the area of Hooksett Road and Interstate 93 saw the stolen vehicle speeding and attempted to stop it, according to a report.
“The operator of the vehicle refused to stop and fled into the city of Manchester,” police said. “The operator of the vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Beech Street and Hanover Street in Manchester and attempted to walk away.”
Manchester Information on Facebook posted a video of the stop on Beech Street (click here to view).
Hooksett police accused the driver, identified later as David Patrick Virgue, 38, of Manchester, of refusing to comply with police commands to stop.
“The officer ended up successfully deploying his Taser and took the operator into custody,” a report stated.
Virgue was charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property as well as disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest or detention, driving after revocation, speeding, and traffic control device violation. He also had an active warrant out of Tilton for violation of a protective order. Virgue was held without bail.

Hooksett police thanked New Hampshire State Police troopers, Manchester police, and Hooksett Fire and Rescue teams for their assistance during the incident.
Virgue has several priors, according to court records and posts online.
Back in April 2018, in Milton, he was accused of felony theft and unauthorized use, which New Hampshire describes as a stolen vehicle violation. The charges were later nolle prossed due to the length of time it was taking to bring on an indictment.
A few months later, Virgue was accused of arson and reckless conduct in Dover. In January 2019, the arson charge was nolle prossed. Virgue pleaded guilty to a single reckless conduct charge in October 2020 and received a six-month jail sentence, all but 144 days suspended, via time served credit.
Virgue was charged with theft and criminal mischief charges in Salem in August 2021. After nine months of court hearings, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft charges and received two 12-month jail sentences, suspended for two years and three years. In August 2022, the sentence was amended to require $5,329.28 in restitution to Sal’s Pizza, two years of probation, with both sentences suspended for three years each. In November 2022, the sentence was amended again.
