Annie - Concord City Auditorium, November 16-18

The Community Players of Concord, NH present the Tony Award winning tale of unshakeable optimism.

Yes, sometimes "It's a Hard Knock Life," but keep your chin up! Because you can bet your bottom dollar that "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow!" This timeless message of optimism and hope is at the center of Annie, the Broadway smash and winner of 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The Community Players of Concord, NH will bring this classic to life at the Concord City Auditorium, 2 Prince St., Concord, NH, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2:00pm. The show features a large cast of adult and youth actors (and one really cute dog) and is suitable for all ages.

Based on the Harold Gray comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie," Annie is the story of a plucky-red headed orphan in Depression-era New York, who escapes the misery of her dismal orphanage for a week to spend Christmas at the home of billionaire Oliver ("Daddy") Warbucks. Warbucks and his staff are enchanted by Annie and become determined to help her find her parents, whom Annie dreams about but cannot remember. Warbucks offers a reward to aid the search, causing Annie's conniving orphanage matron, Miss Hannigan, to enlist the help of her swindler brother, Rooster, and his girlfriend, Lily, to impersonate Annie's parents and collect the money, putting Annie in grave danger. The story of the girl, the billionaire and the reward become national news, even attracting the attention of FDR - the president himself!

The Players last presented Annie in 1983, when the now famous Sarah Silverman played the title role, directed by this same director, Allwynne Fine! Sarah Silverman recently recorded a promotional video for this show, for which the Players are very grateful. View that video here: https://www.facebook.com/Commu...
