CONCORD, NH — Two candidates have filed to run for district Concord board of education seats while one long-time member calls it quits.

Tom Croteau, the District A (Wards 1, 2, 3, 4) board member and a retired educator, has decided not to run for reelection. He has been on the board nearly nine years having been first elected in 2012. Croteau called his time on the board "a good run" and said now that his wife, Patricia, was retired, too, "she and I have plans for having more free time."

Neither Liza Poinier, who is the District B (Wards 5, 6, 7) member, nor Chuck Crush, who is the District C (Wards 8, 9, 10) board member, have returned emails seeking comment about their future political plans. However, if Poinier decides to run for reelection, she is going to have competition after two residents signed up to run for the District B seat in the first 48 hours of the open filing period.
