Another Red Flag Warning Issued for NH

No burning alert in place for most of the Granite State starting at noon today; may extend into Sunday.

A Red Flag no outdoor fire burning notice has been issued for New Hampshire starting at noon on April 23, 2016, and running through 8 p.m. this evening.

Red Flag warnings are issued when there are “critical fire weather conditions” that could cause brushfires or even forest fires like the massive one in Stoddard earlier this week. This includes dry land conditions, low humidity, and wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the state is now in a Class 4 designation, the second highest danger level.

“The combination of low relative humidity and strongest winds will be this afternoon into early evening,” according to the alert. “The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity could lead to unpredictable and explosive fire growth.”

The Red Flag warning may extend into Sunday, according to the NWS, since warm temperatures and dry conditions are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
