ARRESTS: Man Charged with DWI, Drug Possession, and Resisting

The following information was supplied by the Concord Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • Richard E. Crowther, 33, of Concord, was arrested at 7:14 p.m. on Aug. 28, and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated (second offense), possession of controlled drugs, possession of drugs, resisting arrest or detention, and criminal mischief (vandalism). An officer was called to an apartment on Loudon Road for a report of a domestic. A woman told the officer that she and Crowther had been arguing about their relationship. They never dated, she said, but were intimate once, and he allegedly wanted them to be together again. She told the officer that she wanted Crowther to leave and he later did, but reportedly returned later. At the time, she was moving her daughter to another apartment temporarily and when she returned, there was a derogatory term to describe a female body part scrawled on the apartment door in red marker. The woman alleged that Crowther returned again and was yelling at her through a window. “After telling him repeatedly to leave, he kicked in her window,” the officer wrote. Another tenant confirmed to the officer that he saw Crowther allegedly kick in the window. Another officer was sent to find Crowther at his apartment. after pulling into the parking lot with his Toyota, Crowther reportedly ignored the officer while trying to enter his apartment. The officer alleged that he told him “multiple times” to stop but he didn’t. So Crowther was taken into custody for resisting detention. Later, Crowther agreed to field sobriety tests and was later arrested. During a search, an officer allegedly found a small burnt marijuana cigarette in his front pocket. According to the report, Crowther had been convicted on DWI on May 10, 2006, in Manchester District Court. Crowther allegedly admitted to the officer that he drew on the door and kicked in the window, and more charges were added. He was held without bail and arraigned on Aug. 29.
  • Brian Roberts, 33, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. on Aug. 30, and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of alcoholic beverages – private property. Officers on bike patrol were riding south in the area near the Hess station on North Main Street and noticed a subject near the Cumberland Farms across the street. Officers had been tracking a number of complaints about people hanging around the area and crossed the street to check things out. According to a report, Roberts was there, allegedly with an open 24-ounce can of Pabst Blue Ribbon right next to his leg. It turned out that previously in the evening, Roberts received a summons for open container. Roberts was asked for an ID and he allegedly became “more agitated and refused to cooperate” and he was arrested. Roberts “began to shout obscene language” and was warned to stop or he would be charged with disorderly. Roberts refused and the charge was added. During processing, Roberts allegedly “ranted on about getting weapons” and later, was transported directly to the Merrimack County House of Corrections because he allegedly wasn’t cooperating with the booking process. He was arraigned on Sept. 3.
  • Cory Pratt, 24, of Concord, was arrested at 5:56 p.m. on Aug. 31, on a simple assault (personal weapons) charge. Officers were called to an apartment on Fisherville Road for a report of a woman calling 911 saying there was a man attempting to take her phone and grabbing her dress. Officers arrived at the scene and listened to what was going on in the apartment, and reported hearing a woman say “I had to do it because you were not listening to me … I just wanted to talk and you wouldn’t listen,” according to the report. The officers were let into the apartment and the parties were separated. The woman said nothing was going on but when the officer reminded her that she called the police, she stated that she didn’t want to go into all of the details. Later, she said she was tired of Pratt putting his hands on her and alleged that he grabbed her phone and threatened to rip her dress when she didn’t give him the phone. She stated that Pratt was not physical and wouldn’t hurt her. Pratt spoke with the officer in the hallway and later, the officer went back to the woman to clarify how Pratt had previously allegedly grabbed her. She stated that Pratt allegedly grabbed the front of her dress in the area of her chest. Pratt was taken into custody and later, released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Sept. 30. Police took custody of two firearms that were in the home, according to the report. The woman later refused to give a statement to another officer about the incident and requested that Pratt not be arrested.
  • Brittany A. Austin, 22, of Concord, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, on a theft by unauthorized taking or transfer charge. An officer was dispatched to Hannaford on Fort Eddy Road for a theft. The officer spoke to the loss prevention employee who alleged that Austin had placed food items, valued at about $14, in her purse. She paid for other items but allegedly left the store without paying for the items in her purse. Austin, who was upset, allegedly later admitted to the theft, calling it the biggest mistake of her life. Austin was arrested and released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail. She’s due in court on Sept. 30.
  • Arthur E. Joly, 56, of Hopkinton, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. on Sept. 3, and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief (vandalism). The charges stem from an alleged incident on Aug. 14, at the Concord Nissan on Manchester Street involving a damaged windshield wiper on a Mitsubishi. Joly turned himself in to police and was later released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Oct. 7.
  • Joshua R. Burney, 34, of Penacook, was arrested at 8:52 a.m. on Sept. 4, on two simple assault (personal weapons) charges. Officers were called to Village Street for a domestic disturbance between two men. The officers separated the parties and spoke to two women who said they had no direct or indirect involvement in the incident. One woman stated she saw two men “going at it.” Later, the officer learned that one of the men, Burney, allegedly pulled the hair of another man after being pushed out of a bed due to having the hiccups. The two were “roughhousing” when one put the other’s “blankie” on the front lawn. The other man alleged that Burney “grabbed him by his hair and pulled him (off) the couch, dragging him across the floor.” Later, the man alleged, Burney punched him in the rib cage. Later, after speaking to more witnesses, Burney was arrested. He was later released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Sept. 30.
  • Wilfredo Carrero, 36, of Manchester, was arrested at 3:56 a.m. on Sept. 5, on a criminal liability of another charge. The charge stems from an alleged incident at Target on D'Amante Drive on Dec. 20, 2012. The warrant was issued on May 8. Carrero was arrested by Manchester Police and picked up and processed by a Concord officer. He was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Oct. 7.
  • Cassandra J. Levesque, 33, a homeless woman located in Concord, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, on a warrant. The warrant was from the Londonderry Police Department. Officers arrested Levesque on South State Street. She was transported to the Hooksett tollbooth and transferred to the Londonderry Police.
  • Brian James Gaessler, 35, of Concord, was arrested at 5:39 p.m. on Sept. 6, on a receiving stolen property charge. The charge stems from an alleged incident at Sears on Loudon Road on Aug. 31, involving a Craftsman 2 1/4 ton jack valued at about $60. Gasessler turned himself in to police and was later, released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Oct. 7. Gasessler was also issued a no trespass order for one year.
