Attempted Child Rapist Missing From Halfway House Since 2017

Bruce Apostolas escaped from the Calumet last year, is wanted for failure to register, and has violent tendencies, U.S. Marshals report.

CONCORD, NH — The District of New Hampshire - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is attempting to locate a convicted attempted rapist of a child who went missing from the Calumet Halfway House in Manchester last year. Bruce Apostolas is 54, is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs around 260 lbs. He has hazel eyes and brown hair.

In the past, according to the U.S. Marshals Service, he has used the aliases “Bruce Wayne Apostolas.” Apostolas has tattoos on his chest, neck, face, left hand, both arms, and light and right shoulder; he also has scars on his left arm, right leg, and abdomen.

“Apostolas is a Tier 3 Sex Offender, wanted for escape after he walked away from the Calumet Halfway House located in Manchester,” according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal. “Apostolas was serving a sentence for a conviction of failure to register as a sex offender. Apostolas is required to register for life due to a 1991 conviction of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault on a victim under the age of 18.”

Apostolas was last seen in September 2017. He has been known to be in the Hudson and/or Nashua areas but also has ties to the Lakes Region, according to White. He’s also previously lived in Concord, according to reports online.

Marshals have also posted a “violent tendencies” warning on Apostolas’ status due to his lengthy criminal history. According to the Department of Safety, Apostolas has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1983, when he was convicted of simple assault, theft, robbery, and resisting arrest charges. In 1987, 1988, and 1989, he racked up theft, burglary, assault, unauthorized use, stolen property, fraud, and escape charges. In 1998, Apostolas was convicted of criminal mischief and then, duty to report in 2000, 2007, and 2008. Criminal threat, stolen property, and resisting charges followed in 2009. Apostolas was also convicted of duty to report, DUI, and assault in 2010 and 2012. In 2014, he was convicted of duty to report, assault, and obstructing government administration, and also indicted on ID fraud. His current sentence was two counts of duty to report and controlled drug; acts prohibited in January 2017, according to the NH DOS.
