Severe Weather Awareness Week
The New Hampshire Department of Safety’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced Monday it is Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Officials will provide residents and visitors with information on preparedness and safety tips throughout the week, along with the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, to prepare before, during, and after severe weather events. Officials said the state experiences different types of severe weather — including flooding, tornadoes, earthquakes, extreme heat, and extreme cold.
“New Hampshire is home to more severe weather than some people may realize,” Director Robert Buxton said. “With proper education and preparedness, residents and visitors can remain safe during the various weather events we experience. This week is a perfect opportunity to review your family’s emergency plan and update your emergency kit from winter to the warmer months.”
Residents and visitors can find additional information on preparation for severe weather events at ReadyNH.gov.
