Bank Foundation Makes Grant to Concord Family YMCA

CONCORD, NH — The Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation granted $3,500 to Concord Family YMCA last week, according to a press statement. This grant will help support the Kydstop Afterschool Scholarship Fund, funding for the essential Concord Y-developed after-school program. This is one of 19 awards presented by the Foundation to non-profit organizations this year.

“We’re always happy to offer assistance to great organizations like the Concord Y,” said Philip Emma, president of Merrimack County Savings Bank. “We have been longtime supporters of the Y and we’re proud to stand behind their mission to focus on youth development, social responsibility and healthy living.” The Concord Family YMCA provides health and wellness programs for children, teens and adults, and strives to build a stronger community by investing in children, health and local neighbors.

“Funding for Kydstop will help make high quality childcare affordable for low and moderate income families, which is 35-40% of all families enrolled,” said Jim Doremus, the executive director and CEO of Concord Family YMCA. “Enrollment in Kydstop has grown to more than 250 children in the past year and the demand for financial assistance has increased in parallel. We’re very grateful to the Foundation for recognizing the positive impact Kydstop makes on our community.”

Kydstop has expanded to serve several communities in Merrimack County including Abbot Downing, Beaver Meadow, Boscawen, Loudon and Pittsfield elementary schools. The program serves more than 250 students daily from kindergarten through fifth grade. The mission of Kydstop is to strengthen community by first nurturing the potential of every child in it. The program provides all children with opportunities to make healthy choices about their lives, and concentrates on academic performance, physical fitness, nutrition and social skills. Through fair play and perseverance, students learn to take responsibility for their actions, friendships, success and personal health.
