LOUDON, NH — Dozens of firefighters spent about two hours battling a restaurant fire in Loudon early Monday morning.

Just past 3 a.m., a Loudon police officer radioed Merrimack County Public Safety to let them know they were seeing flames coming from the roof of Beanie’s Bar & Grill on Route 129.

“Notify fire,” they said, “we’ve got, probably, about half the inside of the building (on fire).”

Concord Fire Alarm then sent firefighters from several communities to the restaurant for a report of a fully involved building fire, acknowledging the report came from Loudon police.

Initially, firefighters from Belmont, Chichester, Concord, and Pembroke EMTs were sent with Loudon firefighters to the scene. A few minutes later, a Loudon fire commander requested a second alarm since police said the building was fully involved. Firefighters from Barnstead, Canterbury, Epsom, Gilmanton, Pembroke, and Pittsfield were then sent to the scene.

News 603 posted video from the scene on Facebook here:

Just before 3:15 a.m., the Loudon commander confirmed the building was fully involved. A few minutes later, Eversource was requested to the fire, “priority one,” a commander said. Liberty Utilities officials were also requested after firefighters worked to secure natural gas tanks at the restaurant.

And here:

Firefighters were placed around the building while some inside were cleared out.

Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the entire building.

Just before 3:30 a.m., the commander reported multiple lines attempting to extinguish the fire. Water was drawn from a dam in the village, as well as tankers from nearby communities. The commander also requested the fire marshal’s office to call him on his cellphone.

And here:

Just after 3:30 a.m., a third alarm was requested, with the fire commander saying, “I’ve got enough equipment, but I don’t have enough people.”

Firefighters from Allenstown, Boscawen, Pittsfield, Northwood, and Webster were then requested.

Around 4:15 a.m., the fire commander said Eversource had not yet shown up and requested an update. About 15 minutes later, the electric company representative arrived.

At just before 5 a.m., the fire commander said they had it under control.

In a note posted on Facebook Monday, the Georgopoulos family, the owners of the bar and grill, thanked the community for the outpouring of support.

“It truly means more than we can put into words,” the post said.

The family said it planned to rebuild and reopen “as soon as possible,” and the fire was “not the end of Beanie’s,” adding, “We look forward to the day we can open our doors and welcome all of you back again.”
