Body Recovered From The Merrimack River In Hooksett; Identity Currently Unknown
Hooksett police, firefighters, troopers, and Marine Patrol were called to the Merrimack River Monday for a report of a body in the water.
HOOKSETT, NH — Hooksett firefighters have fished a body out of the Merrimack River on Monday evening.
Around 6:15 p.m., Hooksett police received a report from a bicyclist on Route 3A who believed they saw a person in the river. County dispatchers alerted Capital Region Fire Dispatch to the call, and they sent Hooksett fire and rescue teams to the area of West River Road between Riverside Street and Hackett Hill Road for a report of “an item” floating in the water. Police asked dispatch if the witness saw the body on their side of the river or the opposite.
A few minutes later, police confirmed the object was a body in the river.

“We have no way to get to it from here,” one officer said. “We’re going to need Fire’s boat or Marine Patrol.”
Hooksett firefighters said they would be heading to the village station around 6:30 p.m. to retrieve a boat and launch it into the river while other firefighters assisted police on the river’s shore. The boat was launched from Lambert Park, went to the scene, recovered the body, and returned it to the boat launch around 7 p.m.
