Boston Cop Arrested In NH On Meth, Amphetamine Charges
Update: Andrew Johnson, a police detective who works in internal affairs, was accused of possessing the drugs in Woodstock in late January.

CONCORD, NH — A Massachusetts police officer has been arrested on drug charges in New Hampshire after a multi-month investigation.
Andrew L. Johnson, 51, of Chestnut Hill, MA, was arrested on Friday on possession of controlled drugs-methamphetamine and possession of controlled drugs-amphetamine charges, both felonies.
According to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, which is handling the investigation, Johnson was accused of being in possession of the drugs on Jan. 23 in Woodstock, a community on the edge White Mountains region of the state. The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Mass. Attorney General's Office arrested Johnson on Friday in West Roxbury, according to Kate Giaquinto, the director of communications for the AG's office in New Hampshire.

No specific information about the case was available at post time including court documents.
Johnson is a police officer with the Boston Police Department. According to the Woke Windows Project, a website that tracks transparency with the activities of police in the city, Johnson is a detective sergeant who works in internal affairs. He has been with the department for 18 years and earned more than $184,000 in 2019. Johnson received three complaints, two about disrespectful treatment, between 2011 and 2013. But he also received promotions, too, according to the department's media website to sergeant in August 2014 and to sergeant detective in April 2019.

In a statement, the Boston Police Department said Johnson was placed on administrative leave on Jan. 27 by William Gross, the former police commissioner. The leave was initiated after the department became aware of the investigation.
"The BPD anti-corruption unit has been made aware of this arrest and has opened an investigation into the matter," the statement said. "Due to the nature of these investigations, we are unable to comment further.
