Bow Man Arrested After Disturbance In Concord's North End
An affidavit alleges Jonathan Verderame damaged a door to an apartment on Penacook Street, ripped his own shirt to get a woman in trouble.
CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested after a domestic disturbance in the North End earlier this month. Jonathan Verderame, 36, of Logging Hill Road in Bow, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. on May 11, 2019, and charged with false report to law enforcement, domestic violence-criminal mischief, and resisting arrest or detention. At just after 2 p.m. two Saturdays ago, officers were sent to Penacook Street between Jennings Drive and Rumford Street for a report of a disturbance involving a knife.
Dispatch corrected the information and told officers that there was no knife involved in the dispute after receiving a second call from the scene.
When the officers arrived to the building, “multiple people” were waving them down while a woman was “hysterically crying,” sitting inside of a vehicle on the side of the street. The people outside motioned to the apartment and stated that the man involved in the incident was inside.

The officer saw the man – later identified as Verderame – carrying a guitar case, guitars, and bleeding from one hand while wearing a ripped shirt.
“Verderame stated he would run if we tried to put him in handcuffs,” the reporting officer wrote.

An on-duty sergeant ordered Verderame placed in cuffs and he allegedly stated he would “fight” if the officers cuffed him. He was then taken to the ground and ordered to put his hands behind his back but allegedly continued to resist by holding his hands together, close to his chest. After a bit of a struggle, Verderame was cuffed and taken up the street, about 50 feet from the scene.
The victim was interviewed by police and told them that Verderame was outside “yelling on the phone” and trying to come into her apartment. Her friend tried to shut the door to stop him from coming back in. Verderame “ripped the front door open, as well as the door on the inside against the wall, causing both doors to be damaged,” the officer stated, noting that there were pieces of the door on the floor.
When asked about the ripped shirt, the victim stated that Verderame did it himself.
A witness stated that Verderame came to the apartment to pick up some items and allegedly became angry when he noticed his things by the door. Everyone began arguing and the witness told Verderame that she was calling police. Verderame then reportedly stated that he was going to call police, in order to get the victim in trouble.
“(The witnesses) stated Verderame was outside telling 911 they were threatening him with knives and (she) tried to keep the door shut,” the reporting officer stated. “(The witness) stated that Verderame pushed his way through the door and got back into the house.”
The witness added that she took the victim out of the apartment via the back door and out to the front of the house. People driving on Penacook Street saw the mayhem, stopped, and helped, she added.
While all this was going on, Verderame ripped his own shirt, the witness alleged.
A second witness told police he was driving down the road and stopped to help. He also alleged that Verderame ripped his own shirt during the argument while following the two other women around, according to the report.
“(The second witness) advised that Verderame would not leave (the victim) alone even though (she) was making it clear she did not want to be around him,” the affidavit stated.
Verderame was arrested and held without bail.
